Fixing the Roof Windows

andy, March 27, 2026March 27, 2026

We have a couple of these windows in a sloping roof:

The concept is great, they are high up so need to be electrically operated, and we’ve also gone for the add on electric blinds for the same reason.

The real life though hasn’t been so smooth, they rely on a dedicated remote control which is a pain to set up and flaky in operation. The blinds also mechanically have proved a problem, and now neither of them work at all.

So I need to do two things, firstly get the blinds working, and secondly sort out a more satisfactory way to remotely operate them.

The manufacturer does offer a remote gateway device, which could be the starting point, although mine are older now so I might struggle to get information.

For the blinds, they are easy to replace, but seriously, I can’t believe thay have totally failed, they must be repairable.

Watch this space.
